TEDxMeritAcademy Success!

Our TEDxMeritAcademy debut at the Rio Theatre was a huge success!

With 9 dynamic speakers, 1 music video, and 2 TED pre-recorded speakers, we introduced innovative solutions to climate change, overpopulation, and plastic up-cycling, as well as exploring black holes in the universe and contemplating racism in America.

We’ll post our TEDx videos soon to share these ideas worth spreading!

“Can Individual People Reduce CO2 Enough to Ward Off Climate Change?”
When natural disasters start to happen is the real question behind climate change, not if they will happen. People have already started to see the consequences of rising CO2 levels, with the 2-degree temperature rise and global CO2 levels passing 404 parts per million (ppm). Let’s discuss an easy and practical solution that we can all embrace.

About Logan Conover:
Logan Conover founded When, Not If…, a non-profit organization that educates people about their carbon emissions, the positive feedback loop, and easy solutions to reducing CO2 in the atmosphere.  He stumbled across climate change when he learned that many congressmen/women were denying its existence. This frustrated Logan because he couldn’t understand why people wouldn’t believe 99% of the scientists who state that climate change is real with proof that it is real. Logan realized that he needed to something fast and he needed to make it easy, so he created When, Not If… to share facts with people and get the world to take action against climate change.

Check out ProjectMERIT Interviews on PlanetWatch (KSCO)

What fun it was for Logan and Pascal to share their projects on KSCO’s Planet Watch Show!

Joe Jordan and Rachel Goodman, the co-hosts of this progressive show that features exciting cutting-edge science and technology that can protect, and possibly save civilization and the planet, interviewed the students for over 30 minutes yesterday.

Both students have founded their own organizations that give individual people incentive to do their part to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere (Logan) and reduce our population on earth (Pascal).

Listen to an archive of the show here, or click here and then click the March 26, 2017 episode's "download" link to either download or play the file (different browsers will behave in different ways).

Please go to Logan’s website: www.WhenNotIf.org to pledge to reduce driving.

Please go to Pascal’s website: www.PopOverPop.com to pledge to have no more than 2 children!

They make it easy for you to do your part!

Live on KSCO Radio: My Students!

Tune into KSCO’s Planet Watch Show (1080 AM) on Sunday, March 26th!  Two of my students will be presenting their projects that can very well get everyday people to change their impact on this planet.  Logan will talk about his When, Not If organization and how YOU can help us prevent millions of lbs of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.  Pascal will talk about how having just 2 children per couple can mitigate a host of problems by lowering our population with her project Preventing Overpopulation P.O.P.  My good friend Joe Jordan and Rachel Goodman are the hosts for Planet Watch.  It’s entertaining and fascinating!

If you miss the radio talk show or if you live out of the area, just go HERE.  Archives will be available on the same page after the show airs.

Logan Reached His Goal of Diverting 10,000 LBS of CO2 From Entering the Atmosphere!

After starting WHEN, NOT IF in April, Logan hoped to divert 1,000 lbs of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. In 3 months, he reached his goal by getting people to not drive their cars one day per month.  Then, Logan set a lofty goal of 10,000 lbs of CO2 by the year end 9 months in.  That’s when Logan changed his approach and asked people to pledge to reduce their total driving by 5-50% each week.  By getting people to pledge to reduce their driving at the Annual West-End Celebration in Monterey last weekend, he reached his goal in just one day!  Wow!

Join Logan in fighting climate change by pledging to reduce the number of miles you drive each week.  Go to his website at www.WhenNotIf.org.  It’s easy to do because his website does all the calculations for you.  All you need to do is enter how many miles you drive during a typical week and your car’s MPG. Easy peasy.  He’ll add your pledged contribution to see if he can now meet the new goal of 25,000 lbs of CO2 by December 2016.

Even if you aren’t a philanthropist who can change our energy infrastructure, you CAN pledge to reduce your driving. Your contribution will send a message to everyone that even one person can help us lower our CO2 by 60% in 10 years. Logan thanks you for doing your part!
